The often overlooked lymphatic system is what you want to target. Your body is bathed in lymphatic fluid. It's a powerful system and it manages cellular waste.
When you exercise, you create micro tears of muscle, which in turn heals and you grow more muscle. This is adaptation. Step 1 of the healing process is inflammation. Inflammation is a good thing. Unfortunately, the words inflammation and swelling are used synonymously, but they are different. Inflammation is a necessary component of getting stronger, but after the muscle is healed, there is cellular waste that should be evacuated. This happens via the lymphatic system.
The lymphatic system looks a lot like your vascular system. The difference is, your vascular system has a pump; your heart. The lymphatic system requires circulation, but the heart does not make that happen. Circulation of lymph and swelling occurs from the pumping of muscles. This can be enhanced manually through lymphatic massage.
Our therapists are trained in the key locations of the lymphatic system and can facilitate lymphatic drainage. Our recovery sessions include both lymphatic massage, and use of the Marc Pro. The Marc Pro uses electric stimulation to simultaneously pulse the muscles of an entire limb and is great way to improve recovery.
